Description
The framework, known as the **SB7 Framework**, consists of seven universal story elements:
1. **A Character**: The customer who wants something.
2. **Has a Problem**: The external, internal, and philosophical obstacles they face.
3. **And Meets a Guide**: The brand that shows empathy and authority.
4. **Who Gives Them a Plan**: A simple process or agreement to reduce confusion.
5. **And Calls Them to Action**: Direct steps (transitional or direct) to purchase.
6. **That Helps Them Avoid Failure**: Highlighting the stakes and cost of inaction.
7. **And Ends in a Success**: The transformed life the customer achieves.
Miller offers an updated version titled **Building a StoryBrand 2.0**, published in **January 2025**, which revises the original system to address modern marketing challenges. The framework is designed to cut through marketing noise by simplifying messaging on websites, brochures, and social media to answer three questions within five seconds: **What do you offer? How will it make my life better? What do I need to do to buy it?**
